Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I was born in the city of Masaya, Nicaragua and I'm the 6th born out of 9 kids. I've lived my whole life in Masaya. I began to learn shoe-making at the age of 13. By 15 years old, I was able to complete the entire first phase of a shoe (the cutting, design, prep) by myself. I've been making shoes now for over 20 years and have gained so much experience. In 2016, I began to work with Adelisa & Co and for me that was a huge milestone in my life because for the first time I was able to work for myself.
When you’re not busy with work, what are some things you like to do?
When I'm not busy working I like to rest, read self-development books, and my Bible.
What has been a life lesson you have learned that you'd like to share?
I've learned to be more confident and have patience and faith. These lessons have helped me overcome some difficult moments in my life that I never imagined myself going through.
What is your favorite style and why?
My favorite style is the Paseo boot. It's a classic style that brings back memories of my childhood.
What is something you are proud of?
I'm very proud of having my own business. It has allowed me to help support all the families that work with me. The work we do is important and with so much economic instabiity around us, we have been able to provide jobs for others.
